BirdFellow offers two convenient ways to track the birds that you see. Use our Smart Lists tool, to log dates and counts and geo-reference your sightings. It’s easy! "Drop a pin" or enter GPS coordinates in "My Locations" and your favorite birding hotspots will be mapped and stored. Most importantly, Smart List entries automatically build your life list for each location and also add to the lists for the county, state, country in which you saw each bird. For those who aren't worried about recording dates, exact locations, or counts, we offer our no frills Simple Lists option.

Use BirdFellow's Field Reports to share your birding adventures in a rich combination of photos, narrative, and geo-referenced Smart Lists from multiple birding locations. Include as many photos as you please. Map locations that show exactly where you found a rare bird. Share reviews of lodging and restaurant experiences and contact information for those that you might recommend to a friend, then share your Field Report with the entire community or just those in your network.

A picture is worth a thousand words! An organized collection of high-resolution photos is the centerpiece of the BirdFellow Bird Guide. We've recruited dozens of talented photographers who have shared thousands of fabulous images. We will continue adding new photos in an ongoing effort to enhance the BirdFellow Gallery that accompanies each species account. Members can contribute and archive their own photos, creating both private and public galleries. Navigate through thumbnail galleries then view photos full-screen. When you find an image that you particularly like, let the photographer know by "WOWing" their photo or adding either a public or private comment.

BirdFellow is proud to introduce the first Social Field Guide. We provide photo galleries, identification information, range maps, and more. Listen to recordings of bird songs and calls and hear the proper pronunciations of both the common and scientific names for each species. A variety of search filters and browse options are provided to help you find the bird you are trying to identify. More importantly, we’ve created a framework that allows you to contribute and share what you know. We all benefit when a community member posts a helpful ID tip or an interesting note about behavior. Working together to aggregate, originate, and curate content, we can create a living field guide that taps into our collective knowledge and experience.
