
Large, drab dark-eyed vireo with over-sized bill and dark eye. Brownish upperparts with a slightly darker brown crown, bold whitish supercilium, and dark eye line. Plain brown wings with short primary extension, making the tail appear long. Thick, long, dark bill with pale base. Pale buffy-whitish throat and underparts with brownish-gray wash on flanks. Gray legs.

Habitat:
Lowland dry forests, woodlands and mangroves.
Behavior:
Non-migratory. Forages by slowly and methodically gleaning foliage.
