
Similar to Red-eyed and Black-whiskered Vireo. The bill is long and pale. Upperparts are yellow-green with yellow edges on the flight feathers. The crown is gray, and often lacks the black border seen on Red-eyed. A whitish supercilium lies above an indistinct dark eye line. The sides, flanks, and undertail coverts are bright yellow, with the yellow extending onto the sides of the neck and cheeks. The rest of the underparts are white. In flight, the underwing coverts are yellow. The iris is red on adults, brown on juveniles.

Behavior:
Often holds its tail cocked slight upwards in a manner similar to Chestnut-sided Warbler. Like most vireos, this species feeds deliberately, remaining in one place for several seconds and cocking its head about in search of insects and larvae before moving to a new perch.

Gleans insects from foliage.
