
In all plumages, Xantus's Hummingbird displays a bold white line behind the eye, a black face mask, cinnamon belly, and rufous tail. Male: Iridescent green crown and gorget. Broad bill is red with a black tip. Female: Cinnamon throat and duller green upperparts. Red on bill limited to lower mandible. Juvenile: Resembles adult female. Young males have some dark spots on the throat.
