
Shiny, black; small billed and bodied. Purple tint above, glossy underparts. Smallest, glossiest crow. Chihuahuan Ravens are larger billed, stockier, and larger. Once considered con-specific ("Mexican Crow") with the very similar Sinaloa Crow, which only occurs in Mexico.

Habitat:
Occurs in second-growth forests, riparian woods, agricultural land, and arid scrublands.
Behavior:
Nests typically placed low in a shrub or tree. Often found in small flocks, foraging on the ground or in trees.

Diet consists of fruit, nuts, grains, carrion, insects, and occasionally bird eggs or young.
