
This brilliant red ibis is nearly unmistakable. Adult is entirely bright reddish-pink with long pink legs, long decurved pink bill, and black eye. In flight, note small black wingtips.

Habitat:
Mudflats, wetlands, river systems.
Behavior:
Very similar to White Ibis except in color. Hybrids have been recorded. Walks along muddy shoreline or flies with shallow wing beats. Nest is a stick platform in forked tree branch. Popular zoo bird.
Feeding:
Probes in mud with long bill for crabs, frogs, insects, and other small aquatic organisms.
