
Rare to Southern Arizona and Texas. Adult has yellow breast and throat, white supercilium, reddish-orange crown and auriculars, black lores, white malar area, relatively stubby black bill, plain olive-brown upperparts, pale brown underparts, white undertail coverts, and relatively long, plain brown tail. Sexes are similar.

Voice:
Jumbled, rapid series of jerky phrases; call is a single chip note, sometimes repeated.
Habitat:
Canyons, shrublands, woodlands with dense vegetation, riparian areas.
Behavior:
Habitually flips and flicks long tail. Generally occupies low thickets. Nest is partially roofed, on the ground or secured to side of rock or log.
Feeding:
Gleans low foliage for insects and other invertebrates.
