
This is a stocky flycatcher with a stout black bill and short tail. Male: Gray overall, lighter on the underparts, with a black crown (extending below the eye) and a rose-pink throat patch. Female: Upperparts are warm brown to rufous, with a blackish crown and a buffy collar extending around the back of the neck. Underparts are buffy. Juvenile and first year male similar to adult female.

Habitat:
Riparian woodland, open mixed woodland.
Behavior:
Builds large domed nests at the end of branches.
Feeding:
Flycatches. Also eats small fruit.
