
This vagrant from Eurasia is dull gray-brown above, with a buffy supercilium and malar stripe. The underparts are whitish, with fine streaks on the throat, and extensive dark streaking on the breast and flanks. The sides and flanks are washed with reddish orange. The belly is unmarked white. In flight, note the bold reddish-orange underwing coverts which give this species its name. The bill is yellow with a dark tip and culmen, and the legs are pinkish.

Habitat:
Breeds in mixed forest and tundra.
Behavior:
Vagrants known to flock with American Robins.
