Field Notes

In the spring males constantly follow the females around, but the females almost never follow the males. It is very common to the males feeding the females on a branch or on the ground. Males will search the ground for seeds or insects, while the female will be doing something else nearby, like bathing in a bird bath. The male then approaches the female and feeds her. When he does this it looks like they are kissing. Females don't really look for food in the spring because their male companions are constantly feeding them.
Citation: Personal Experience. I observe this occasionally, confident.
