Boobies are large and distinctive in shape with long, slightly crooked pointed wings, fairly long necks that taper into a slender head and long pointed bill, with a lot of neck and head extension in front of the wing. The rump and tail extend well behind the wings tapering to a fairly narrow wedge-shaped tail that looks pointed in flight. Adults of this species are almost entirely white except for distinctive black wings and tail, yellow bill and facial skin is blackish. Head, neck, back, rump, and underparts clean white. Folded wings and black tail. In flight, black flight feathers contrast with white upper wing coverts. Underwing mostly white with broad dark trailing edge and blackish primaries. Dingy yellow feet. Immatures resemble an adult Brown Booby, with all dark brown upperparts and head, yellow bill and dark facial skin. The breast is white unlike the Brown Booby, which has a dark brown breast. Nearly identical "Nazca" Booby is smaller with a shorter, orange bill.
