
Medium-large warbler. Thick bill with curved culmen. Dark eye. Very short primary projection and relatively long tail. Pink legs. Adult male: Gray head with slightly browner crown, hind-neck and nape. Contrasting thick black lores extend above and below eye. Thin broken white eye ring. Pink bill with mostly dark upper mandible. Bright yellow throat, belly and undertail coverts with extensive pale olive-brownish on flanks. Olive-brownish back, wings and tail. Adult female: Similar to male, but upperparts and head browner. Paler lores and paler yellow underparts. Juvenile: Similar to adult female, except paler with less contrasting head pattern.

Habitat:
Tall thick grasses and reeds. Shrubs and thickets.
Behavior:
Often difficult to find due to its habit of skulking low in the underbrush and grasses.
Feeding:
