
This species is similar to Ash-throated Flycatcher, but is smaller, with a long thinner bill. The crown is gray-brown, darker than the olive-gray back. The wings show indistinct wing bars and rufous on the primaries. The tail has very little or no rufous. The throat and breast are light gray. The belly and undertail coverts are light yellow. Juvenile shows rufous on tail.
