Field Notes

Birds wintering in Oregon's Willamette Valley, where this species is rare-but-annual Nov-Mar, are often found around the margins of filbert orchards. Sizeable flocks (10-20 birds) are occasionally found in such orchards. This habitat choice was first pointed out to me and others by Roy Gerig, who lives near Salem, OR.
Citation: Personal Experience. I observe this occasionally, confident.
